Thank you for volunteering to coach a team with the North Central Strykers Soccer Club! Your time and efforts are vital to the success of the club. Here is a list of responsibilities and reminders to help you have a terrific season.

Once you receive your team list, you will need to contact each player, introduce yourself, and provide information on the practice and game schedule.

Games will be played in the rain. Please remember that coaches are not to cancel games themselves, even in inclement weather. The club scheduler will contact you if a game has been canceled or postponed. You will then need to contact your players.

The manuals for the different age levels can be found on the left in the "Coaches" section. You may also visit the Iowa Soccer Association website. There are lots of resources for coaches, including sample games and practice lesson plans.


REMEMBER:

• Set a consistent and age-appropriate practice schedule.
• Clean up fields after practice and games. Have your players help!
• Make sure parents have a way to contact you.
• Practice the skills needed to develop well rounded players.
• Have a plan for each practice and keep your players active and focused. Discipline in practice translates into discipline during games.
• Have players bring water to all practices and games.
• Limit "scrimmaging" to less than 1/3 of total practice time.
• Encourage good sportsmanship.
• Foster teamwork
